Kyoko Ibe
is a leading Japanese designer and artist who’s been involved in the history and use of the Japanese paper for over 30 years. Meanwhile being praised and awarded with a lot of national and international prices, Kyoko Ibe set the standard for the use and preparation of the Japanese paper.
Because of her fascination for elements of nature the artwork of Kyoko covers a lot of natural movements like wind and clouds. For years already Kyoko Ibe’s been manager of the Japan Paper Academy, professor at the Kyoto Institute of Technology and author of numerous publications on Japanese paper and present paper-art.
Awayuki – Melting Snow is the new paper to be used in the quality products Banners, Panel – and Rollo Shades from Wood & Washi. The design was exclusively made for Wood & Washi by the Japanese artist Kyoko Ibe.
The broken cream-white colour of the Japanese paper tends to a fascinating play of light, covering the environment in a shimmering twilight. Sunbeams “dance” across the room depending on the light. The harmonious and soft shaped melting snowflakes attend to a tranquil warm atmosphere.
Like every Wood & Washi paper, the design Awayuki Melting Snow is originally made from paper out of the mulberry tree. The Washi is manually processed into window decoration, entirely to desire.
